The Passage Bar Launch Party!

The Passage Bar at El Paseo opened with a bang! Sammy Hagar and Bar Manager Steve Gizzi debuted the restaurant’s brand new spirits and cocktail menu on Wednesday, February 1, which included six newly designed flagship cocktails, while Executive Chef Henry Cortez unveiled his new bar food menu which consists of several shareable dishes and small plates.
Everyone gathered around as Sammy shared how each drink was perfectly crafted with unique flavors and top shelf spirits such as Old Potrero Rye, St. George Terroir Gin, Elmer T. Lee Bourbon, and some of Sammy’s very own signature brands including including the chart-topping Cabo Wabo Tequila, the award-winning Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, and the recently launched Santo Mezquila – his newest agave product in partnership with Maroon 5 frontman and fellow Grammy winner, Adam Levine. They were paired with savory bites from the new bar food menu such as Prosciutto Wrapped Pineapple and Shrimp in Sofrito. Guests can now enjoy The Passage Bar’s new cocktail and food menu daily. The bar is open Sunday through Thursday, 4 - 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 4 - 10 pm. Cheers!

Starting on February 1st, Sammy Hagar and the El Paseo team will be launching a brand new spirits and cocktail menu. Come and check out our six newly designed flagship cocktails, featuring Old Potrero Rye, St. George Terroir Gin, Elmer T. Lee Bourbon, and more. El Paseo is hiring experienced cooks for the position of Hot Line and Garde Manger Cook. This is a full time position at the resturant in Mill Valley, CA. This position is responsible for set-up, food preparation, organization, sanitation, and production of food items, as well as closing and storage for individual work stations. The essential functions and accountabilities include:
Responsible for set-up of daily par/prep and organization of their daily work station.
Preparation of and storage of all food items necessary to operation of station in adherence with quality standards.
Upkeep of items used by others, ie. dressings, salsas, soups, etc
Communicate with Chef and Sous Chef when special products are needed or having problems with food quality or presentation.
Consistent presentation of daily entrees etc. as designated by Chef.
Proper cooking techniques for station items as designated by Chef.
Proficient knife skills.
Other accountabilities include: Performing a multitude of different functions; therefore as an essential part of your postition, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises just as other Employee Partners are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or directed. You will report directly to the Chef and also perform work for the Sous Chef & General Manager.
Work Experience desired: 1 year of kitchen experience is preferred, but dedication and desire to learn can compensate for experience. Entrants are required to have a California Food Handler's Certificate or a ServSafe Certificate. Please understand that this position works weekends and some Holidays.

Sammy hosted some friends for a preview of the paella on the patio for this Sunday.
This is the veggie paella (vegan & gluten free) - it's an assortment of seasonal vegetables,
Bomba rice, saffron, vegetable stock, garlic, & pimenton de la Vera.
The meat Paella Mixta will have chicken, shrimp, pork riblets, chorizo, Bomba rice, #paprika, saffron, stock and onions. Come enjoy!

Last night's monthly wine collectors' dinner was the
best ever. Right Bank Bordeaux was the theme with lots
of Saint Emilion and Pomerol, some of the highlights were
'75 Petrus and '82/'86 Chevel Blanc - both phenomenal
wines (everyone dug deep into their cellars)!
Randall Grahm, the eccentric mad scientist winemaker
and founder of Bonnie Doon Winery, came with some friends
- the event was sold out so we took over the wine cellar
room, which was a mistake hahaha. We ended up drinking
much more than the wines we brought....A '67 Yequim in
honor of Kari and four other people in the room being
born in 1967. And a few white Burgundies also from my
private cellar, ouch!
Tre and Sara Cool were there with family and friends
ended up in the wine room with us, strike three!!
Henry and the kitchen staff made some of the best
food I've had anywhere in the world, ending with a well
chosen, perfect selection of cheese to finish off the
night. Three tables of super redheads made it -- I'm sure
they can testify this was BIG FUN!!! Maybe not this
morning, but last night ha ha Ha ha ha
Thanks all for making these special collectors dinners
at El Paseo better each month.

Here is a sweet story about a big fan, Tom Williamson
and his wife Angie who came to SF for their 25th
anniversary and wanted to buy me a drink...
I normally don't call people back (no time to answer
everyone!) but there was something about the letter and
the anniversary being the same as Kari & me that got
I couldn't meet them but decided to set them up for
an anniversary dinner at my restaurant, El Paseo....
